Its amazing to see how such an ancient writing can reflect on our world today. Gilgamesh covered themes we are dealing with, like the fear of death, our war against nature, and our struggle against temptation.
The end of Gilgamesh was a little surprising, I don't understand where Enkidu came from, but the message that was sent was interesting. Enkidu ended up being Gilgamesh's servant, I interpret that as a reflexion of us being servants of something or someone.
We are accustomed to having nature at our feet. We think we are conquerors of everything and that same feeling is the one that will have us becoming nature's servants. I think the relationship between humans and nature are dependent on each other. Its like a see-saw. When nature is up humans are down, and when humans are down nature is up, thats how it has always been for takers. Leavers on the other hand have a perfect balance with nature.
I belive life is all about having balance. Not white but not black... I had thought about this for almost everything; love, school, sports, but I had never used this philosophy with nature.
In conclusion, humans are ahead of nature. But we all know things are changing and that we'll end up like Enkidu if we don't do something about it.
